چکیده

Multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) systems provide a significantly increased capacity and spectral efficiency by exploiting the benefits of space division multiple access (SDMA). The channel state information (CSI) at the base station (BS) is used to precode the transmit signals and to simplify the processing at the users’ terminals. If perfect CSI is available at the transmitter, the multi-user interference (MUI) can be effectively eliminated at the BS. If the channel varies too fast to obtain short-term CSI, long-term CSI can be used alternatively to improve the system performance. In this paper we propose a new approach to multi-user precoding based on long-term CSI, which can be applied to previously defined precoding techniques originally requiring perfect CSI at the BS. It is shown that a significant performance improvement is achieved by the new approach as compared to a state of the art approach [1] to multi-user precodingwith long-term CSI, especially for the case when a user has a line of sight (LOS) channel.

Single-Carrier Multi-User MIMO Downlink with Time-Domain Tomlinson-Harashima Precoding

Nonlinear precoding improves the downlink bit error rate (BER) performance of multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MUMIMO). Broadband single-carrier (SC) block transmission can improve the capability that nonlinear precoding reduces BER, as it provides frequency diversity gain. This paper considers Tomlinson-Harashima precoding (THP) as a nonlinear precoding scheme for SC-MU-MIMO downlink...

Performance Analysis for Massive MIMO Downlink with Low Complexity Approximate Zero-Forcing Precoding

Zero-forcing (ZF) precoding plays an important role for massive MIMO downlink due to its near optimal performance. However, the high computation cost of the involved matrix inversion hinders its application. In this paper, we adopt the first order Neumann series (NS) for a low-complexity approximation. By introducing a relaxation parameter jointly with one selected user’s interference to others...

Multi-user MIMO in LTE and LTE-Advanced - Receiver Structure and Precoding Design

The spatial dimension surfacing from the usage of multiple antennas promises improved reliability, higher spectral efficiency [24], and the spatial separation of users [6]. This spatial dimension (MIMO) is particularly beneficial for precoding in the downlink of multi-user cellular systems (broadcast channel), where these spatial degrees of freedom at the transmitter can be used to transmit dat...

On Joint Optimization of Source and Relay Precoding Design for MIMO Downlink Channels

This paper investigates the joint precoding optimization for a relay-assisted multi-antenna downlink system. Aiming at multiuser sum capacity maximization, we first propose an iterative optimization algorithm which exploits quadratic programming approaches. Inspired by the results obtained from the iterative optimization algorithm, in order to further reduce the computational complexity, we the...

Multi – User Downlink Precoding in Fdd Systems without Channel Feedback

In this contribution we present a new method for multi – user MIMO downlink precoding in Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) systems. In order to avoid channel feedback, we estimate the long term channel statistics (spatial covariance matrix) based on the received uplink data. Afterwards we transform the receive spatial covariance matrix to the downlink frequency and use this data to calculate an e...
